蔣南孫（張曼玉 飾）和朱鎖鎖（鍾楚紅 飾）在金色的太陽雨下相遇，性格不同年紀相仿的她們成為莫逆。二人偶遇中日混血男子宋家明，在海洋公園開心玩樂過後又失去聯係，但是年輕的她們不在意，總覺得前路還有更好的。中學畢業後南孫繼續升讀大學，鎖鎖出來工作。懂得利用本錢的鎖鎖總是搬家，一次比一次豪華。而大學畢業後的南孫從低做起，不免覺得挨得辛苦。重遇宋家明對於南孫來說是烏雲裏的陽光，麵對家明對鎖鎖現狀的追問，南孫敏感地避而不答。南孫父親炒樓失敗，突發心髒病死亡。鎖鎖大方出手相助，幫蔣家渡過難關。南孫覺得自己不應該自私，讓鎖鎖和家明見麵了。
她們的友情經過流金歲月的洗禮，隻有更醇，不見削弱。
